Tata Motors is set to launch the Sierra EV in India between April and June this year, marking the first time the carmaker has confirmed a specific launch window for the all-electric SUV.
The Sierra EV will be offered in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. While official specifications remain limited, the model is expected to share its platform, powertrain options, and feature set with Tata Harrier EV.
For Nepal, both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric versions of the Sierra are expected to arrive after the Sierra EV is launched in the Indian market. The ICE Sierra is offered with three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The new naturally aspirated petrol unit from Tata’s Revotron lineup produces 105 bhp and 145 Nm of torque and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCA) transmission.
Depending on the variant, the Sierra also includes multiple drive modes along with three terrain modes—Normal, Wet, and Rough. A key feature is the Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD) suspension system, designed to adapt to varying road conditions and enhance ride comfort and handling dynamics.
In terms of competition, the Sierra will go up against established players in the midsize SUV segment such as the Hyundai Creta, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kushaq.
